Dear East Main Brothers and Sisters,
As many of you know, my family and I have decided to accept a new ministry position with the North Jackson congregation in Jackson, Tennessee. I will be serving as their Congregational Minister, a role that will primarily involve teaching various Bible classes and placing a strong emphasis on member visitation. Please know that this decision was not made lightly. However, it felt like an opportunity we could not pass up, and, Lord willing, we will begin this new chapter on July 1st.
That said, if you’ve been following our journey, you know that not everything has gone according to plan. We have not yet sold our house—a concern that has weighed heavily on us from the beginning. It has proven to be, let’s just say, a challenge. But God is good, and I know He will provide for us, just as He always has. Your prayers on our behalf are deeply appreciated.
As I reflect on the past nine years, it still feels like only yesterday that I first walked through the doors of East Main. Apart from the elders, I knew hardly anyone. W.D. Woodward was actually one of the first people to introduce himself to me. I also remember slipping into a pew one Wednesday night, sitting just behind or next to where Travis Morris and his family used to sit—either my first or second visit. (I don’t think he had a clue to who I was.) From that point on, I slowly began to get to know the congregation better, little by little.
Of course, the greatest blessing of my time at East Main was meeting my wife, formerly known as Katie Williams. We began dating in the fall of 2016—and, well, the rest is history!
Some of you may remember that I actually began my work here part-time, working with the college group in the evenings while holding a secular job in construction during the day. In time, the elders decided to take a chance on me and brought me on full-time. I can’t thank them enough for that opportunity—it has changed my life forever.
I have so many fond memories of East Main members and the college group that I’d need several volumes of books to recount them all. I hesitate to tell specific stories because I’d feel compelled to include everyone. Suffice it to say, my time here has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve been blessed to work alongside some remarkable men and women who have truly shaped my life for the better. And I’ve met some incredible students who have given me great confidence in the future of the Lord’s church. My family and I leave with the deepest sense of gratitude for all the encouragement and friendship East Main has shown us over the years.
East Main will always hold a special place in my heart.
You’ll see us again.
In Christian love,
Seth, Katie, Henry, and Silas
