Take a step in your spiritual journey

become a disciple

In accordance with Ephesians 4:12-13, the leadership within our church is here to guide and support believers in their journey of faith, service to others, and the collective growth of the body of Christ. Our aspiration is that every member of the East Main family will mature in Christ, demonstrate Christ’s love toward others, and serve both the church and the broader community. It is our prayer that each of us will wholeheartedly pursue these endeavors for God’s glory.

As a church, we unite to provide opportunities that aid us in achieving these goals as followers of Christ. Inspired by the example and teachings of Jesus, we believe God instructs us in spiritual growth and healthy, faith-filled living. Therefore, we offer this guide to discipleship—a simple, intentional resource to help you strengthen your faith and relationship with Jesus. This guide emphasizes practices that foster growth in Christ, love for others, and service that glorifies God and fulfills His calling for the church.

engage with god's word daily

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the profound value of God’s Word in our spiritual growth—it guides, equips, and matures us in faith.

spend time in prayer

Make prayer a daily habit. Consider the immense blessing it is that the God of all Creation desires to hear from us. Talk to Him. Have a relationship.

gather with christians to worship

Worship offers several meaningful benefits that can deeply enrich your spiritual life:

  1. Unity and Fellowship: Gathering together fosters a sense of belonging and strengthens bonds within the church family. It reminds us that we’re part of something greater than ourselves.
  2. Encouragement and Accountability: Worshiping with others allows us to inspire and support one another in our faith journey, keeping us spiritually grounded.
  3. Collective Praise: There’s a unique power in coming together to glorify God through prayer, singing, and hearing His Word. It amplifies the expression of gratitude and love for Him.
  4. Learning and Growth: Engaging in sermons and teachings with a group provides shared insights, spurring personal growth and a deeper understanding of Scripture.
  5. Reflection of Heaven: Worship is often viewed as a glimpse of what eternal worship in God’s presence may be like, cultivating hope and anticipation.

join a sunday morning bible class

Classes give you the opportunity to share in an interactive study alongside others fosters relationships, support, and camaraderie as you work together to understand God’s Word.

study with christians in a wednesday bible class

While there are the usual classes for kids up to the college age, there are special midweek classes for adult men and women. These are a great time for discussing practical ways to live out the teachings of the Bible. Hearing how others are impacted by Scripture can be inspiring and motivating, creating an atmosphere of mutual support.

Connect with godly friends

The wonderful thing about being with other Christians is that we’re all on a shared journey! Through classes, ministries, fellowship events, and service opportunities, you have amazing chances to form lasting, meaningful friendships that can impact eternity.

Look to a godly mentor for guidance and inspiration

Friends are wonderful, but we all need fellow Christians who can actively guide us toward Jesus on our journey. Bible classes, shepherds, ministries, and events are fantastic ways to build these meaningful, faith-filled connections.

maintain awareness of those who need help in our church family and do something about it

Each week, there are members of our church family who could use a little extra care. You can find their names in the bulletin and on the Barnabas List. Take a moment to send a card, make a call, or pay them a visit to remind them just how loved they are!

find someone you can help in their spiritual growth

Having a mentor is amazing, but have you thought about who you’re mentoring? Keep an eye out for new Christians, someone going through a tough time, or anyone who could use a little support to grow in their faith.

Connect and build community through a class or ministry

Join one of our classes and get involved in a ministry—it’s a great way to connect and serve alongside others!

Purposefully guide someone toward Jesus

At work, at school, at play…have meaningful conversations with others. Steer the conversations to matters of eternal importance. Be a good example and influence others toward Christ.

Need help doing these things? Check our Resources—particularly House to House, Heart to Heart—or ask an elder how to get more involved in personal evangelism ministries.

Regularly take part in serving and supporting the church's mission

God’s church thrives when we come together to serve one another and our community! Your help can make a real difference, and there are always plenty of opportunities to get involved. Whether it’s lending a helping hand, sharing your talents, or simply offering your time, we’d love for you to be part of serving in meaningful and impactful ways!

Give selflessly and generously

God commands us to give of our means each week (1 Corinthians 16:1-2), but there are plenty of other ways to give as well. Each year, there are special opportunities to give for projects/ministries, disaster relief, or even privately just to assist a brother in need.

Show genuine care and compassion for those around you

East Main has several outreach ministries. Ask an elder how you can get more involved!
