East Main Bids Farewell to the Fergusons

On June 15th, the East Main family gathered to bid farewell to Seth, Katie, and their two sons, Henry and Silas.

Seth began his ministry in the summer of 2016 , leading “The 214 House” college ministry.

Seth’s influence has been profound among the young people. Of Seth, the elders said he “helped influence a lot of the young people” and “[gave them] an avenue or a place to go in the world”. One student stated, “my faith has grown due to him”. Another highlighted Seth’s “incredible example in every single thing he’s done”. Seth “has grown tremendously” in preparing lessons and in his “interpersonal skills”. He was described as “a Christian first and foremost”. Beyond the college ministry, Seth also did “a lot with mission work”.

Seth’s commitment to speaking the Lord’s truth was evident in his preaching and teaching. Jon Mitchell recalled Seth’s sermon on “The Christian and Social Media”, noting his directness: “This is a topic that you all might not like what I have to say, but it needs to be said.” Jon went on to compliment Seth: “He is the epitome of quiet Christian dignity”. His evangelism, locally and in Central America, was greatly appreciated.

Katie, too, has been a pillar of support and inspiration, especially to college students. Her willingness to share Seth’s time for Thursday night gatherings at the 214 House was noted. She was called “a really good Christian woman first” and “a great minister’s wife.”

Seth and Katie are deeply loved and will be greatly missed by East Main. Many expressed sadness, with one saying, “We’re going to miss your family.” Yet, as servants of the Lord, moves are sometimes necessary to further the gospel. Seth will be Associate Minister at the North Jackson church of Christ in Jackson, Tennessee. They will continue to be a blessing wherever they go, bringing glory to God. As one confidently stated, “You’re going to be successful wherever you go”.

As they embark on this new journey, prayers are offered for God’s abundant blessings upon Seth, Katie, Henry, and Silas. They will always be part of the East Main family , with many offering a heartfelt “you’re always welcome back”.
